The Most Holy Name of Jesus
Holy Name Society meeting Wednesday, January 5th at 6:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center. Fr. Pons will give a conference, with discussion and refreshments following. All men interested in learning more about the Holy Name Society are encouraged to attend.
Epiphany Blessing: Take the blessed chalk and first write the initials of the three Wise Men, connected with Crosses, over the inside of your front door (on the lintel, if possible). Then write the year, breaking up the numbers and the year so that they fall on both sides of the initials. It should look like this: 20 C+M+B 22 with the "20 "being the millennium and century, the "C" standing for the first Wise Man, Caspar, the "M" standing for Melchior, the "B" standing for Balthasar, and the "22" standing for the decade and year. It is also popularly believed that the Kings' initials stand for "Christus mansionem benedicat" ("Christ bless this house").
All Day Adoration on Friday, January 7th begins after 8:30 AM Mass and ends with Rosary and Benediction at 5:45 PM. Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule. Please be sure all time slots are filled to give correct veneration to Our Lord. “Can you not watch one hour with Me?” First Friday Mass follows Benediction at 6:30 PM.
The Simeon and Anna Sodality (Nunc Dimittis, 50 +) will meet Saturday, January 8th after the 8:30 AM Mass. We will meet in the Retreat Chapel to pray the Seven Sorrows devotions and prayers for the book intentions, followed by our meeting and refreshments in Boyle Hall.
Parish Picnic: All parishioners are invited to a parish picnic on Sunday, January 9th at 12:30 PM. We ask each family to bring their own food and drink to feed themselves, plus extra to share, if you wish. Please bring games, balls, and equipment to share with everyone to provide a variety of entertainment. The Holy Name Society will set up tables and chairs on the field. We will end with Vespers at 5:00 PM. Come out and join your parish family on this Feast of the Holy Family!
Second Collection schedule: January 9th to benefit the Building Fund. January 16th to benefit the Academy. Thank you for your generosity.
Militia Immaculatae Engagements: We have unfortunately not yet received the preparation materials for this consecration, so new engagements to the MI will be postponed until the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, February 2, 2022.
Church Directory: We will be partnering with Universal Church Directories to design and print a parish directory. We hope all parishioners will participate. Photography sessions will be held January 25th – 29th. You will have the opportunity to purchase family portraits from these sessions. Appointment scheduling will take place Sunday, January 9th and 16th after all Masses.
