Check back soon
New season 2024-25 shooting practice schedule begins September 2nd!
Whether you sign up as a new or returning archer, there is no commitment to attending any of the practice or competition shoots - our policy is come when you can. Also, Br. Benedict is seeking out parents/adults willing to assist with the archery program in a number of ways.
Please contact the parish office at 602-268-7673, option 1.
Returning Archers

Shoot Times:
- Tuesdays & Fridays: 3:30pm - 4:30pm
- Thursday: After Benediction & Compline ~7:20pm - 8:30pm
- Saturday: After 8:30am mass ~9:15am - 10:30am
- To begin with, these practices are open shoots to all returning archers, but if we are consistently having more than 20 students show up per practice, we will divide into age groups. Depending on student interest and availability of coaches, shooting opportunities may be increased.

New Archers
For those students, grades 4-12, interested in entering the archery program, please sign up here. This doesn't commit you to anything, but rather allows Brother Benedict for proper planning.
In order to be eligible for the above program you must take a mandatory 1.5 hour intro to archery class coupled (at a later date) with a 1.5 hour class of instructional shooting - both taught by Brother Benedict. Once the new archer has completed both of these classes he/she is eligible to join any of our scheduled practice or competition shoots. The dates and times of these 2 classes are TBA, based on student interest.

- Annual fee per archer $20, not to exceed $60 per family (This doesn't include travel competition entry fees or archery park entry fees)

- An overall grade average of 70% or above, AND no more than one D, regardless of the grade average, AND no failing grade in any subject

Benefits of Archery
[Excerpt from Our Lady of Sorrows Academy Newsletter, May 2024 by Stephanie Riley]
“I believe that one of the most important factors in teaching archery is pointing out the necessity of discipline and details. Our young archers see for themselves, the down range proof, that attention to the little details (the 11 steps to archery success) and a strong self-discipline always lend to tighter groupings on the target. Through archery the students learn to ACCEPT INSTRUCTION and RECEIVE CRITICISM to be a more accurate shooter. My hope is that our program teaches the students how to be successful while giving them a wholesome gratification of improving in a difficult and enduring task. My primary goal with the Archery Program here [...] is not just to help our children become the best archers they can be but also to instill in them a lifelong spirit and attitude of “I want to do this. I can do this. I will keep trying.’”
Thank you so much for all of your support and patience.
In Christ,
Br. Benedict
