First Sunday of Lent
Ladies Auxiliary Meeting: All women of the parish are invited to a meeting on Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00 PM in Boyle Hall.
Baseball Game: All parishioners are invited to the Academy’s first home games of the season, Tuesday, February 28th at 6:30 PM and Thursday, March 2nd at 6:30 PM.
Holy Name Society meeting Wednesday, March 1st at 6:00 PM in the Performing Arts Center. Fr. Pons will give a conference, with discussion and refreshments following. All men interested in learning more about the Holy Name Society are encouraged to attend.
Ember Days: Traditional days of fast and partial abstinence are Wednesday, Friday (complete abstinence), and Saturday, March 1st, 3rd and 4th. This observance was originally instituted to encourage the faithful to pray and do penance for new priests. Please offer your prayers and sacrifices on these days that God may inspire more men to offer themselves for this holy ministry and for the perseverance of those already ordained.
All Day Adoration on Friday, March 3rd begins after 8:30 AM Mass and ends with Rosary and Benediction at 5:45 PM. Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule. Please be sure all time slots are filled to give correct veneration to Our Lord. “Can you not watch one hour with Me?” First Friday Mass follows Benediction at 6:30 PM.
Please come support our Annual Parish Yard Sale to be held this Saturday, March 4th from 7:00 AM – 2:00 PM in Boyle Hall. Concessions will also be available for purchase after the Masses. Proceeds from the yard sale will go to the Building Fund, and all items not sold will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Charity.
Confirmations: Bishop Tissier de Mallerais will administer Confirmation here at Our Lady of Sorrows on Friday, May 19, 2023. The ceremony will be in the evening. Specific details will be provided in the coming months. Any adult needing to be confirmed should contact Fr. Pons as soon as possible.
Bookstore Sale: A large selection of used books are available for sale in the bookstore ($3 for paperback, $5 for hardback).
Academy Auction: Save the date for this year’s silent auction, to be held Sunday, March 19th on the church grounds from 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM. We invite all parishioners to come socialize, bid on some fabulous items, enjoy light refreshments, and support our parish school.
