The Most Holy Name of Jesus
Holy Name Society meeting Wednesday, January 8th at 6:30 PM in the Performing Arts Center. Fr. McFarland will give a conference, with discussion and refreshments following. All men of the parish are encouraged to attend.
Fr. Finnegan’s Funeral Details: Wednesday, January 8th at Our Lady of Quito (9009 S 18th St. Phoenix) - 5:30 PM visitation followed by a 15-decade rosary at 6:30 PM. Thursday, January 9th at Our Lady of Sorrows - viewing and rosary at 10:00 AM, followed by a Solemn High Requiem Mass at 10:30 AM, then a vehicle procession to St. Francis Cemetery (2033 N 48th St., Phoenix) for a 1:00 PM burial. A reception will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows’ Boyle Hall following the burial. All are invited.
Theosis Meeting: On Friday, January 10th at 6:00 PM the Theosis Young Adults Group will have its first official meeting for the year. Fr. Pons will give a conference, followed by refreshments and a social hour. The cost is $20 for the year. All parishioners ages 18-30 are invited to attend.
Third Order Spiritual Conference will be held Saturday, January 11th at 9:30 AM in the Church. All parishioners who are members of a Third Order (SSPX, Dominican, Franciscan, Benedictine, Carmelite) are encouraged to attend.
Second Collection schedule: January 12th to benefit the Building Fund; January 19th for the Consoling Sisters Foundation. Thank you for your generosity.
Parish Picnic: All parishioners are invited to a parish picnic on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 12:30 PM. We ask each family to bring their own food and drink to feed themselves, plus extra to share, if you wish. Please bring games, balls, and equipment to share with everyone to provide a variety of entertainment. We will end with Vespers at 5:00 PM. Come out and join your parish family on this Feast of the Holy Family!
Archery Raffle & Tournament: The OLOS Archery Club will host its first outdoor tournament here on January 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. All are encouraged to come watch a real tournament competition. Please help support the Archery Program by buying a raffle ticket for the chance to win a complete archery set. Visit the archery tent outside church after Sunday Masses for further details and to purchase your raffle tickets.
Confirmations: Bishop Fellay will administer Confirmation here at Our Lady of Sorrows on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Any adult or child not enrolled in the Sunday Catechism class or Our Lady of Sorrows Academy needing to be confirmed should contact the church office and complete the Confirmation Registration form found in the vestibule as soon as possible.
Academy Winter Soirée: Parishioners are invited to Our Lady of Sorrows Academy’s Dinner, Dance and Auction on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the Garden Tuscana Reception Hall in Mesa. This fundraiser will help fund the Academy’s campus expansion. The event will include live music, dinner, drinks, silent & live auctions, raffle baskets and more! Sunday Brunch for the Priory: Volunteers are needed to prepare Sunday Brunch for the Priory. Please show your appreciation to our Priests and Religious by cooking one meal for them!
