Pentecost

Ember Days: Traditional days of fast and partial abstinence are Wednesday, Friday (complete abstinence), and Saturday, May  31st, June 2nd and 3rd.  This observance was originally instituted to encourage the faithful to pray and do penance for new priests. Please offer your prayers and sacrifices on these days that God may inspire more men to offer themselves for this holy ministry and for the perseverance of those already ordained.

All Day Adoration on Friday, June 2nd begins after 8:30 AM Mass and ends with Rosary and Benediction at 5:45 PM. Sign-up sheet is in the vestibule. Please be sure all time slots are filled to give correct veneration to Our Lord. “Can you not watch one hour with Me?”  

Academy Graduation Mass: Saturday, June 3rd at 9:30 AM, followed by the graduation ceremony in the Performing Arts Center. All are invited.

Men’s Breakfast: There will be a Men's Breakfast in Boyle Hall on Saturday, June 10th at 8:30 AM. Men and boys of all ages are invited. Fr. Kurtz will be sharing his vocation story with those who attend. Suggested donation of $8/person. 

Mass Schedule Change:  There will be only two Masses (at 8:00 AM and 11:30 AM) on Sunday, June 11th, due to the Feast of Corpus Christi and procession. Eucharistic Crusaders and First Holy Communicants will lead the procession after the 8:00 AM High Mass. All parishioners are invited to bring flower petals to distribute during the procession.

June 18th there will be blessing of automobiles after each Mass.

The Third Banns of Marriage are announced for Mr. Michael Vincent Amodeo of Our Lady of Sorrows and Miss Gabrielle Elizabeth Diehl of St. Joseph’s, Ray Township, Michigan, who plan to be married on June 3, 2023. Any persons knowing of any impediment to this union are obliged in conscience to notify the pastor as soon as possible.

Easter Duty Reminder: All baptized Catholics of age are obliged to receive Holy Communion worthily at least once during Easter time, which runs from the First Sunday of Lent to Trinity Sunday.

Mexico Pilgrimage:  Our Lady of Sorrows will be hosting a seven-day Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico from November 9 – 15, 2023. Fr. Pons, as our chaplain, will celebrate daily Mass and give spiritual talks to the pilgrims. More information is available in the vestibule, or you may contact Rena Violette at 386-697-3804.
