Wednesday, November 5th 11:10 AM Mass is canceled.
Perpetual Adoration, Wednesday, November 5th starting after 7:30 AM Mass, ending with Benediction at 6:00 PM. Sign-up sheet is in vestibule. In 1989, the Society of St. Pius X started Perpetual Adoration in which the Blessed Sacrament remains exposed at some house of the Society throughout the world every day for the faithful to pray for the following intentions:
- The return of Rome and the bishops to the traditional doctrine of the Church.
- The sanctification of priests and candidates for the priesthood.
- The awakening of priestly and religious vocations.Holy Name Society meeting Wednesday, November 5th at 6:30 PM in the Performing Arts Center. Fr. McFarland will give a conference, with discussion and refreshments following. All men of the parish are encouraged to attend.
SSPX Third Order Spiritual Conference will be held Saturday, November 8th at 9:30 AM in Boyle Hall. All SSPX Third Order members are asked to attend. Members of other Third Orders are also welcome to attend.
2025 OLS Bags Tournament sponsored by the Holy Name Society is Saturday, November 8th at 10:00 AM. This is an all-day men's event including food, drinks, cigars, a cornhole tournament, and much more.
Enthronement to the Sacred Heart: As mentioned in the sermon on the Feast of Christ the King, enthroning the Sacred Heart in the home is a good practical way to declare Christ’s Kingship in the family and, through the family, in society. To prepare for such an enthronement, it is recommended to read Jesus, King of Love by Fr. Mateo Crawley. You can find more information about the Enthronement in the bookstore.
How to obtain a plenary indulgence for the Holy Souls
From November 1st - 8th: visit a cemetery and pray for the poor souls.
On November 2nd: visit a cemetery or a church or an oratory. Recite one Our Father and one Creed.
A partial indulgence can be obtained any time by visiting a cemetery and praying for the poor souls. The following prayer is especially recommended:
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Requiescant in pace. Amen.
Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen
Six general rules for obtaining a plenary indulgence:
- Perform the indulgenced act
- Be in the state of grace
- Complete detachment from sin, even venial sin
- Confession (once within 20 days before or after)
- Communion (one time for each plenary indulgence)
- Prayers for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff
- Exaltation of the Church
- Uprooting of heresies
- Peace among Christian nations
- Propagation of the Faith
- Conversion of Sinners
The Third Banns of Marriage are announced for Mr. Jeffrey Kavanagh and Miss Cecilia Quain, both of Our Lady of Sorrows, who plan to be married here on November 15, 2025. Any persons knowing of any impediment to this union are obliged in conscience to notify the pastor as soon as possible.
